The Association "Panagia Soumela" of Thessaloniki, being strictly dedicated to its constitutional purposes for 42 years, continues to have a worthwhile presence and contribution both in the national and intellectual field, with consistency and full sense of responsibility to history and the Nation. Within this framework of its activities, to date it has published very interesting books with notable content. This intellectual presence and contribution of our Association, in the last eighteen years, is unbelievable, especially with the publication and circulation of the magazine "Pontiaki Estia" (Pontian Hestia). A recent example of systematic and responsible literary contribution of the Board of Directors of our Association is the book "now in the press" "Pontian Settlements in the former Soviet Union" and this book "in your hands", unique in content from the view point of undisputed evidence and facts, regarding the crime of the genocide of Hellenism (Greeks) of the East. The many and interesting information, the author has collected from French archives, complete a painstaking, unique, documented work, which is the fruit of eight years of research, patience and insistence . For this reason we responded, to Harry Tsirkinidis' request, this study of his to be published by the Association "Panagia Soumela", even though definite proposals were made to him by known publishers of Thessaloniki and Athens. The author of this book may be proud, because he offers an invaluable historical and national work, which will inform our youth on a hot issue and will disarm those who, till yesterday, disputed the fact that the extermination of 353.000 Pontian Greeks was an action and a plan of genocide. The Association "Panagia Soumela", with the publication and circulation of this study, for once more it believes it fulfills a duty of informing all Greeks and the Greek Parliament and of honoring the memory of the victims of genocide, new martyrs of the 20th Century, demanding recognition and condemnation of this crime by International Organisations and by the Greek Parliament.
